科技进步中的期刊编辑角色

摘要(Abstract)：
本文译自《科技进步中的学术期刊编辑》(Journal Editorsin theScientific Process,美国,1989年版)一书,是为该书第10章,由美国普渡大学的HenryL.Roediger Ⅲ撰写。这是我们接触到的西方编辑学研究方面不可多得的一篇珍贵论文,在某种程度上代表了美国高等学校目前在这一领域的研究水平。它从科技编辑在科技进步中所扮演的角色入手,以心理学类期刊编辑作为特例,引入了编辑如同一名科学战士、科学的守门人、科技侦察员、仲裁人等重要比拟,并运用统计的方法提出“编辑引文系数”(ECF)的概念,论述编辑所编论文被引用的规律。该文认为编辑在科技进步中有着极为重要的影响。其影响主要表现在初审、选择审稿人和作出最终裁决这3个阶段。该文还涉及知识爆炸对编辑的影响和西方科技期刊的起源。
