摘要(Abstract)：
威廉·沃尔曼是继托马斯·品钦重登文坛以来最受关注的美国后现代派小说家之一。《彩虹故事集》借着五彩光谱的意象将每个故事紧密相扣,记述了在社会底层挣扎的边缘人的真实生活,表达了沃尔曼对他们的深切关爱。探讨沃尔曼在《彩虹故事集》中对边缘人的塑造,旨在揭示沃尔曼独特的创作理念,那就是扮演不同社会角色的人不仅可以共存,而且能让人性的彩虹和我们生存的世界变得更加丰富多彩。
